Uta/Robin finally able to bring it to germany through a ship which cost Rs 30000 !!<u1:p></u1:p>

<u1:p></u1:p>4. unnamed..Jimmy.... and Rexy<u1:p></u1:p>

This is not in the article but it is my own story....I got one stry dog to home when I was 6 years old I tied it to the tree outside our home ,when it started crying my other let it tie it inside the house. I tied it inside the house & got to the bed thinking for a 'name' for my doggy !!! When I got up in the next morning it was not their, my Uncle/Father dispersed it to some 'safer' place where I do not have the access .Later I came to know that the reason for its disappearance was doggy being a 'female' ..could lead a lot of trouble in future !!!<u1:p></u1:p>

<u1:p></u1:p>Then when i was around 9-10 years old a nice doggy (~6 moths old) came to our street, which I welcomed in to our house. I thought it 'shake hand' ,"choo" ( a famous word in our place to make dog to to bark at strangers) ,"Salute”,” Jumping within the tyre " etc etc . At the last period of the school , I always used to think what I should teach "Jimmy" today ?? . My parents fortunately allowed it stay with us .I even constructed a small "den" for it with the help of my sister (Kokila) & my neighbors (Nataraj & Rashmi) Unfortunately it fell ill. My parents spend enough money (even thought it was too much for them ..just<u1:p></u1:p>

because of my love for the doggy) for its treatment . After 2-3 months it was fully active it used to follow me wherever I go......One sad day it was following me when i was riding cycle .and it came down a big truck that’s it ....I was crying like anything ..my sister was consoling me .That picture is very strong in my mind <u1:p></u1:p>

<u1:p></u1:p>Just after few months after death of Jimmy , i got another noce dog from a place called " Hebballi Agasi".named it "Rexy".It was a lovely dog was with our family for 12 years .When I moved to Bagalkot for my higher studies I used to miss it a lot.In very letter I wrote to home I used to ask about Rexy. Sometime when I was Dharwad my perents shifted the house from "Mahendrakar Chawl" to a "Banashankari" .But Rexy did not moved to the new place ,but it was in its old den & the neighbours & the people who moved our old house pet it.It was "Rexy" for the whole street. It used regularly visit the near by zoo, where it used to get left over meat from the zoo-keeper. I was wondered when came to know that it used wag its tail when zoo-keeper call it "Gouri"..it managed the dual identity :-) .May we used to just give it veg food ,so just for non-veg it maintained this dual identity. It used to visit our new house every now &then .It surely used to visit my place when i used to visit Dharwad from Bagalokot in my vacation. That is really strange how it used to know that I am back to to Dharwad !!!<u1:p></u1:p>

<u1:p></u1:p> May be always people want what they can not get (?) . But it is really amazing that this bird has survived a lot of changes and challenges. So this can be considered most intelligent bird of thw world. No wonder the story we read in our childhood about a crow getting water at the bottom of the jug by putting stones in to the jug .I think out ancestors also felt Crow as the intelligent bird. While s reading a book 'Pakshi Prapancha ' (in Kannda ...Field Guide for birdwatchers) came across an interesting fact about this crow . In Japan in some university campus crows put the walnut on a road, and wait for a car passing over the shell, and eat the broken walnut.....is it not great ?? Even in the photo attached you can that crow is trying drink wanter from a fountain which looks like a bird , note that it is scared from this but analysed that it is just a fountain & drinking water from it .Here is mail posted on Bangalore Bird wathcers's group about Crow's intelligence=================================================Date: Wed, 14 Dec 2005 04:32:53 +0000 (GMT) From: "Dr. Kumar Arunachalam" <ixedoc@yahoo.co.in>Subject: Crows: Intelligence and Improvisation I have been observing common crows (C. splendens) for years now, and am fairly confident that, these birds have mastered many techniques and methods, especially when it comes to nesting behavior. (A) The selection of twigs for nest material is an elaborate, pick, reject, pick, choose exercise. Though I am unable to hazard any grounds for choice of twigs, I have seen that when the crow select any stick (broom stick in this case), which perhaps is too long for its needs - it actually uses one of its feet to steady the stick, and using its beak levers the material up to snap it into a more convenient dimension. Application of these simple biomechanical and physical principles, makes the crow quite unique in its intelligence quotient. (B) It invariably flies to its nest site, no matter where it takes off from, is a predetermined route. The approach is never random, or even a short cut. It is always, from point any locale, ‘x’, to fixed points ‘a’ and ‘b’ en route to nest site. (C) I, today spotted a crow, trying to maneuver a long twig into its chosen sitebetween some mesh of steel girders below a tall asbestos roof. The bird struggled to reach its nest, despite many attempts, with the stick held across its beak: the gap between the meshwork of girders was too tiny for the stick to be ferried across transversely. The bird then lifted its head up, realigned the stick, holding it not exactly halfway of its length, but a askew, with beak gripping the twig at point one fourth of its length. This allowed the crow to thread the long twig into the confined space easily. The re-adjustment and re-alignment of stick grip-position, demonstrates that this reviled bird, is gifted with intelligence.============================================Epilog=======......................even if know that bird is intelligent & is survived so many challenges we do not talk this bird may be because it not so "GOOD LOOKING" or may its voice is very "NOT SO NICE". Does it mean we(humans) appreciate the things which is good looking & nice to hear ,but not about their capacity/intelligence. So does it mean that for human being to be popular you need to be good looking ;-)

FOOTWEAR

Today near a shop which sells glasses/cuts glasses I saw 2 people loading the broken glass pieces from the shop in to a van .They were doing this job so fast as if they are doing dumping cotton !! They were wearing long boot and a spade to load the glass pieces in to a metal basket. So got in though how human being started using these footwear ..how it became a business etc ..Here is my thoughtPeople were walking & running in bear foot when they were traveling in limited areas or in their derogatory which was very small...later when man started covering large distances, he felt he is 'exploiting' his feet, hence thought of cover it up with some strong /smooth material to save it. May be because of abundant availability of the leather he started using it for preparing footwear out of it .It has continued till now .....Then it lead to a small scale industry (Chammar-- a Kannada synonym for Cobbler, there is community who are experts in it & even their surname is 'chammar' in Karnataka ) which became bread & butter for many people . Now it is of cource a big big industry. Why only manufacturing of footwear ..even 'governing' your footwear outside temple is huge industry , there is a bid for this 'service' .I came to know about this from the person who is doing this 'service'( Rs 1 /pair of footwear) in Raamanjaneya Temple of Hanumanthnagar, Bangalore. Here is one Kannda Chutuku ( short poem) about the same by B R Laxmanarao" Devare... Nanna mattu avala maduvege avarappa Oppali Istella bedi baruvatanaka haage irali horage nanna hosa Chappali" (translation could be something like below ... (Thanks to Jagadish) God, let her father agree for us to pair.while I finish my prayer, let be safe my new shoe pair.

Note: According to indian custom you can not enter temple with footwear Now it has became something like we can not walk without footwear. Why walking??? ...even small babies who can not walk are wearing 'baby shoes' . Even people who travel in cars and use lifts started wearing it even though they walk maximum 1 mile a day.So it is no more to safeguard your feet, but a fashion, custom. People who wear chappal are considered 'un-formal' / unorganized compare to people who were shoes.Ealier I used to see many people (even in my school) walking barefoot or the famous 'Hawayi Chappal'. I was just wearing this 'Hawaayi chappal' till my VIII standard, later fought in house to get leather chappal for VIII standard !!! .But India has progressed so much that even beggars are wearing footwear. Atleast now in Bangalore I have never seen people walking bare foot. Footwear was never a 'ICON' for status. I remember that I read somewhere that Indian footbaal team qualified for Worldcup football in 1941 (if my memory goes correct) were not allowed to participate since they were playing barefoot. Irony is even if Indian football team playing with Nike shoes ...are unable to qualify !!But on the other side of it ...we have heard many great stories about the "Paaduka" (Samskrita word for footwear). The greatest one is of Raamaayana ,Bharath governing the Raamarajaya in absense of Raama by worshipping Raama's Paadukas. We have Gaanagapura were we have 'footwear' wore by Dattatreya. We have many temples having footwear (Paadukas) of great Saints/Saadhus) in and around India. But all of these are normal footwear just to safeguard your feet...but not like any stylish nike, rebok. When I was discussing with my friend about going for jogging in the morning he said he will be able to join me on next Monday since he is not having nice pair of shoes 'suitable' for jogging !!!We have come a loooooooooooong way from the actual purpose of the footwear.Epilog---------To know what other people are feeling ..we use the phrase 'walking in other's shoes'.Are shoe no more a symbol of comfort ..but a symbol of pain ?.

Raj's CAR & our sarCAR

We are around 8-9 people in office who go for lucnh together .We enjoy our meal by 'cursing' the caterer (most of the time) or pulling somebody's leg. Later we will start a great session called as 'PJ session' in side a car of one of our gang (Raj). Where we run our own Sarakar (government) hence calling this blog as 'Raj's CAR & our sarCAR' !!!You may think why the heck we get in to a car ...the reason in our campus there are no becnhes to sit and we are not allowed to sit on the lawn..hence in to our den...the car ...where we run our sarkar :) .We used to call it a PJ session since most of the people used to crack a lot PJs ( Phalatoo Jokes) after lunch (especially our old collegue Arun). But later it turned in to discussion about newspaper's headlines (small fight between TOI readers/ NIE reader ), discussion about new FM radio stations ' attacking' Bangalore, Status of Bangalore roads/fly overs/ new sites/apartments/cars/accidents/inceidents etc etc. And sometimes about Kannada Literature & status of Kannada in Bangalore . Most of the times about making one person in the gang Bakra & pulling his leg like anything . I do not know about this great synergy, whenever a person seems to be on the way to Bakra everybody else will jump on him with their funny comments .Unfortunately I will be Bakara most of the times :(Whatever it may be everyone of us will be waiting for this sarCAR in CAR !!It engegies us for the second half of the day ( and for Prahanth of this gang good start of the day !! )

Deepawali - Holiday

Everybody in office are just hurrying ...to pack-up & catch the bus/train today to enjoy the 5 days of Holiday for Deepavali. What we think /feel not only expressed in our face but also have some physical form(say some wave), which can be just recieved & felt by our mind(?). When you go to a cubical of a team which is in "celebration mood", you get energised, same way when you go near a cubical of the team who is totally loaded & frustrated you feel very uncofortable...is it because you ( your hidden antenna) are hit with bad wave ?You may say could be ..but I feel it is true. When people around you are with high energy you also feel energised , even without talking to them or seeing them. I think these things may be shown as "Aura" a round cirlce around gods & godesses. I am also thinking why in most of the religions this "aura" is used & the same way you will see some "rays" coming out of the hands of these god & godesses. Is it the same reason people are hugggin "Amma" of Kerala ? ..Don't know...just a thought .

Kannada

PÀ£ÀßqÀ

¸ÀĪÀÄä-¸ÀĪÉÄß ºÀgÀmÉ ºÉÆqÉÆåzÀPÉÌ PÀ£ÀßqÀ ¸ÀPÀvï .. .. .. If a dramatist like Girish Kaarnad writes a drama about Tughalk, people will feel what he is written about Tughalk is the personality of Tughalk. Most of common people (inclsuing me ) will interpret it the same way. But Karnaad is claiming that what he wrote about Tughalk is not about actual Tughalk but just impressed by him & wanted to create a complex characherstics. Which is contested by many other literary people likw S L Bhairappa,Cidanadamurty,Sumathidra Naadig, S N Laxminarayana Bhat. Usually such controvecies will not be published in the news papers, but Vijaya Karnataka has dared put such a healty debate in Kannda Daily, which is really worth reading.
Professor Bhyrappa's article can be downloaded from http://vijaykarnata kaepaper. com/svww_ index1.php by registering free
